You will also be treated to a guided walk where you will have the opportunity to photograph the resident cheetah. After freshening up, you take to the road heading west towards the coast, passing through the towns of Seeheim and Aus before reaching Lüderitz. On your way keep an eye out to photograph the wild desert horses that frequent the waterhole at Garub, a most amazing sight of perseverance in the harsh Namib Desert. This afternoon your guides will arrange for you to visit the ghost town of Kolmanskop. Stepping back in time, you will have the opportunity to photograph the desolate streets and abandoned buildings and capture the fascinating sites before returning to Lüderitz for the night.

DAY 4

Today we will be treated to a fascinating excursion into the Sperrgebiet restricted area to visit the historic sights of Elizabeth Bay and Kolmanskop. The guided tour will give you an insight into the rich history of diamond mining in Namibia and the rise and fall of both Elizabeth Bay and Kolmanskop, as well as an idea of what everyday life in these settlements would have been like. DAY 5

It’s up early this morning for a memorable and fascinating excursion through time to visit the historic ghost town of Kolmanskop once more. The aim is to reach Kolmanskop early enough to set up your equipment in time to see the sun rise and to photograph the dunes and remnants of yesteryear at best light. You then leave the coast and Lüderitz behind as you make your way north into the Namib Desert to stay at the beautiful Dead Valley Lodge. You can enjoy an afternoon drive exploring the Namib Naukluft Park with your Untamed photography guides or just relax and soak in the desert surroundings before freshening up for dinner.

DAYS 6-7

These two days, you can experience the magical beauty of the Namib Naukluft National Park with our photo guides as you rise early in the mornings for exciting excursions into the dunes to capture those memorable images. As you are already inside the park you can get into Sossusvlei before everyone else and you would even be able to get there in time to see the sun rise to capture images of the dunes whilst the light is soft and shadows accentuate their towering shapes and curves. This area boasts some of the highest free-standing sand dunes in the world. Your Untamed guides will give you insights on the formation of the Namib Desert and its myriad of fascinating creatures and plants that have adapted to survive these harsh environs.

DAY 8

The fascinating drive today takes you northwest through the breathtaking and ever-changing desert landscapes of the Namib Naukluft Park, including the impressive Gaub and Kuiseb canyons. You meet the coast at the port town of Walvis Bay where you have the option to visit the lagoon to photograph the interesting mix of pelicans, flamingos and other sea birds, before continuing on to Swakopmund to check in at your hotel. There will be time this afternoon to wander around town and along the waterfront on foot if appeals, before heading out to dinner at one of the popular restaurants in town.

DAY 9

This morning we will drive you back to the Walvis Bay lagoon where you will experience the harbour town from the waters of the harbour itself on a catamaran boat cruise. Glide silently and effortlessly past the massive ships docked in the harbour as you keep an eye out for playful seals and the possibility of dolphins in the breaks of the waves. Afterwards we will head back to Swakopmund for a light lunch and an afternoon at leisure before dinner.

DAY 10

Today’s journey takes you north along the coastline, stopping over at the haunting remains of the Zeila Shipwreck before heading inland towards the scenic countryside of Damaraland to reach Camp Onduli. The afternoon may either be spent at leisure or exploring the intriguing rock engravings of Twyfelfontein (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) before returning to the camp for a sundowner drink. It is the variety and loneliness of the area as well as the scenic splendour which will reward and astound you, giving one an authentic understanding of the word 'wilderness'.

DAYS 11-12

The next two days are dedicated to exploring this remarkable and fascinating area with your Untamed guides. After early breakfasts you will be treated to memorable 4x4 excursions along the ephemeral Aba Huab River valleys to explore this remarkable region and to search for game, including the elusive desert adapted elephants if they are in the area. Damaraland is home to a variety of desert adapted wildlife and hidden desert treasures. As the elephants are mostly active in the mornings you will normally have the best chance to see them then before returning to camp for lunch. The rest of the afternoons is at leisure, with the option to explore the area further with the photo guides.

DAY 13

Today’s journey takes you inland towards the vast bushveld parts of northern Namibia and the massive Etosha National Park, passing through small towns and farming communities on your way. Your destination today is the beautiful Ongava Lodge, nestled on a hill overlooking the Ongava Nature Reserve on the southern border of the Etosha National Park where you will stay for three nights. This afternoon you will head out on your first game drive in the African bushveld, leaving the park just before sunset and returning in time to freshen up for dinner.

DAYS 14-15

For the next two days you will be exploring this remarkable biome with your Untamed photography’s guides as you seek out the many waterholes and drive along the myriad of roads that snake through the park. You may either opt for a picnic lunch at a scenic location or have lunch at any one of the Camps inside the park if all guests are in agreement. You will have to leave the Park before sunset though as per regulations. You also have the option of going out on one PM Game Drive on the Ongava Game Reserve on any of the two afternoons with one of their local guides to experience this enormous private nature reserve.

DAY 16

This morning you depart early and drive south towards the capital city of Windhoek, stopping en route at the world famous AfriCat Foundation just south of the town of Otjiwarongo. Here you will be taken on a tour of its facilities where the guide will discuss the origins and visions of this conservation project. Afterwards you will be able to enter one of the large enclosures with your local guide to view some of the ambassador cheetahs that reside here. Enjoy a lunch before continuing on your journey. Upon your arrival in Windhoek your Ultimate Safaris guide/s will transfer you to Galton House for the last night of your safari. This evening you will have your farewell dinner either at a local restaurant in town or at Galton’s in-house restaurant sharing memories and stories with each other.

DAY 17

This morning can be spent relaxing at your guesthouse, exploring Windhoek, visiting NamCrafts and the Craft Centre, or doing some last minute souvenir shopping if time allows, before an Ultimate Safaris representative will collect you from your guesthouse for your transfer out to the Windhoek International Airport, getting you there in time to check in for your ongoing flight.
