WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

This 4-day wildlife photography tour is located in one of the most biodiverse locations on the planet. Here in the lowlands of the Peruvian Amazon, this wildlife photography tour will bring you fascinating wonders that this planet has to offer. Our award winning photographers will take you on a short journey into the vast rainforest where photographic opportunity is endless. Here you will have the opportunity to photograph and learn about the many animals of the forest such as the Black Spider Monkeys of the tree tops, the clumsy, bold Tapir, and the majestic Jaguar that lurks the forest floor. Even the variety of frogs that vary in colour are awaiting your presence as you walk the rainforest floor.

Along with many wildlife photographic opportunities, you will have the time to learn and get tips from our wildlife photographic guides that will be with you through this journey.

ACCOMMODATION

We will be staying at a quaint Eco-Lodge in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest. The lodge is surrounded by fruit trees and native flowers, which are perfect for attracting a great amount of colourful butterflies and birds, meaning there is plenty of wildlife to admire from your front porch. This luxurious rainforest lodge will provide a beautiful display of traditional Peruvian cuisine each day. The bedrooms are thatched bungalows on raised wooden platforms, each with a private ensuite and a relaxing front porch to enjoy the environment from your front door. This is a great, comfortable base in a truly stunning setting!

ITINERARY

DAY 1:

This tour will start bright and early at 8am to get the most out of the tour as possible. We will start with a 3-hour journey upriver with many photographic opportunities followed by your arrival at the jungle lodge. We will get settled and head out for a short walk for you before lunch in search to photograph life in the trees. We will later go on an afternoon walk to the canopy tower to observe the monkeys and birds feed on the trees, a good way to get some close photographs of their feeding behaviour. We will return for a three-course dinner followed with our complimentary glass of wine or drink of choice. An optional night walk is available for you to photograph the nocturnal life of the rainforest.

DAY 2:

We have an early wake-up call to be escorted to the boat for a morning boat ride to a secluded oxbow lake. Here we will photograph the endangered Giant River Otters, Black Caiman and many river bird species such as the Hoatzin. We will spend sunrise here to get some stunning images with techniques from our photographers along with biological information. We will return for lunch and later you will be led into the depths of the rainforest to photograph more wildlife of the Tambopata. After dinner, an optional night walk will be available.

DAY 3:

The beginning half of our day will be spent at a macaw salt lick. We will watch Red and Green Macaws, Scarlet Macaws and multiple parakeet species from a secluded watch location made from woven bamboo. From here you will be able to get some great photographs of them without human interference. The rest of the day will be spent around the other trails surrounding the location where monkeys thrive. You will spend the last night at the lodge with available beverages.

DAY 4:

After an early breakfast, you will be taken on a three-hour boat journey down river, back towards Puerto Maldonado. There are great chances of spotting wildlife and enjoying some last wildlife photography. Lunch will be provided by us at our favourite location in town. Airport/hotel transportation will be provided.
